AGENDA:
-chart of PLC (from Venables book)
-eat lunch together on Fridays? Yes, we will try to do this.
-Quiet lunch- kids meet in room 111, bring a friend/book- ideas?
-Academic assistance- what do we need help with from special areas teachers?
-vocab list- we need to send a list to Stacy with words AND definitions ASAP (take off too easy words) Laura will email your word list to you and define the words (relating to our curriculum).
-Benchmark writing- change genres? Set 4 dates (see below)

Writing:
Oct. 19- "Narrative" writing needs to be finished.
Dec. 14 - "How To" writing needs to be finished.
Feb. 14 - Informational Persuasive writing needs to be finished.
March 29 - Persuasive Writing (and all the others-if they don't pass the other genres have them redo the others and submit score)

Looking at Data
Plan for remediation and enrichment- Extended Day kids! (be thoughtful about who you send, mainly reading)

Unit/Lesson Planning
Curriculum map- check on language arts/writing and reading?
ELA-nouns, subjects (simple and complete)
Writing - narrative, writing process

Science- Regions of GA unit

Pledge Schedule

Teachers:
Please divide your class and assign a day during your week for each small group (no more than 6 children) to come to the WMPE studio in the media center by 7:40 to recite the pledge for the morning announcements. This is also a great opportunity for your students to share something special that they are learning in the classroom. Here is the proposed schedule:

Most of us are going to do the spelling words in the Harcourt reading book.  Some may add in the Spell and Write and make different lists for advanced/on spellers.

Math: Plan Unit 1
-         Determine how the content topics, standards, andskills will be organized within the unit for the first weeks of school. 
-         Determine which standards for mathematicalpractice will be most appropriately integrated to support this content and theskills you have identified
-         Look for resources and activities that alsosupport the integration of the standards for mathematical practice. 
-         As you evaluate the standards addressed and theactivities identified, will the transitional standards be needed to supportstudents in their learning?  Identify anytransitional standards to be addressed and add them to your instructional planfor this unit.  Identify  resources that will support student learningof the transitional standards identified and also articulate well with theinstruction planned.

Grade level meeting-August 6, 2012

Sitting spelling
We will review and discuss later.

We discussed and updated as needed.
-grading policy
-Recovery policy
We discussed having common recovery assessments and creating a bank for tests so that we aren't all making tests.

Daily Schedule:
We discussed how we've done scheduling in the past and how to break up subjects.

Dismissal
We partnered up. One person will do first bell and one second bell. Hurley will do 3rd bell.

8:30am - Thursday morning lets meet to plan language arts and then break apart to plan math. Advanced meet in Laura's room and On level meet in. Denise's room.

We chose secret pals.
Complete the survey and reply to all 3rd teachers on the email so that your secret pal can know about you.

Friday outing: We will go out for team building after open house on Friday.
